Hello There
First of all, this has to be one of the best, if not the best, Mixing apps for the ipod.So far everything, except for one thing, has been working perfectly. The one thing I'm having a little trouble with is the recording option. When I set up my selection for recording and click the recording button, and I'm finished with the mix, I can't find the mix that I recorded.I read the manual and it say's the recorded music will be in the "app's directory", I've clicked every button on this app and search every part of this app for this directory and nothing.Obviosly I'm missing something here, can you point this noob in the right direction? This would be greatly appreciated, Thank's.

BTW, I'm using a iPod Touch 2G [3.1.3]

Hello BrookDon,

Thank you so much for your complements on our app. We've worked really hard in bringing it to life.

You've raised an interesting usability issue. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The output mix is an uncompressed WAV file, and we never provided the capability to actually play WAV files within the app! Needless to say, we'll be remedying this in a future version.

But in the mean time, you should be able to download the mix when you connect to the app via the internal FTP server or Web server. There should be two files: a WAV file and a TXT file (which will show all the songs you loaded during the recording of the mix). After which, you'll be able to convert it to an MP3 and send to friends.

Hopefully this will solve your issues. Please let us know how your mix turned out!

Hi Herve,
Thanks for your question. Here's some info from the documentation, but with a couple of extra notes added to hopefully clear things up.

  • To connect to the Quixpin app FTP server, make sure your iPhone / iPod Touch are connected to a WiFi network. You won't be able to connect to your iPhone if it is only connected to your cell provider's network.
  • Launch Quixpin on your iPhone / iPod Touch. Within the app, hit the i button on the bottom of the mixer screen.
  • Then select "Start FTP Server" at the top of the new screen.
  • On your desktop, launch FileZilla Client (make sure you have the client, evidently they also have a server) or any other compatible FTP client application (do not use a browser) and enter the IP address and port that are displayed in the app. Use any username and password.
  • Once you're connected, you should see a directory listing of the songs that are currently on your phone. Then you should be able to drag and drop your MP2 files over to the FileZilla window and have them uploaded.
  • Make sure your MP2 files are in Mono (it sounds like you've gotten that taken care of already, but just making sure).

Let us know how that works out for you or if you have any other problems. Thanks!

This app looks great but we cant use. We have had this app for a month now and have tried everything.
When I start FTP server all I get is connected to 192.168.0.11 port 21000
We have tried port forwarding and everything.

Please Help!!
Jay

Greetings Jay,

Sorry to hear that you are having problems. One user noted that they had mistakenly downloaded the FileZilla server software as opposed to the FileZilla FTP Client. Could that be the case with you as well?

Please let us know. We'd like to make sure that you can connect to your iPhone. Additionally, there are alternative ways to transfer files if you have a jailbroken iPhone / iPod Touch.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, it works now, but is there a way to convert multiple songs at the same time using audacity, because converting songs one by one takes a lot of time. Also I had a quiestion: what's up with the pfl buttons:s, why does the song you select using pfl in the quixpin add, play louder than the other?, In dj'ing with a normal set, that's not the case is it??

Hello Herve,

Agreed, converting song by song does take a bit too long. We were looking at alternatives to Audacity, when we decided to concentrate on improving our sound engine for MP3 compatibility. Unfortunately, Apple still hasn't approved the update, so we will begin looking at it again.

For your PFL question, how is your audio set up? Are you using headphones or a splitter? The cued songs do not get affected by their individual faders, so that could be one reason why they would appear to be louder. Another reason they may appear louder is because you hear them in the cue and the master when you begin to segue. But to the audience, they will sound normal. One way to affect the cue volume is by using the dial on the left of the cross-fader.

Hope that helps.
