Function Comments & Requests
I just started playing with this program on my iPhone 32gb 3GS and I love it! I purchased this program along with Hot Wax DJ. After using both, I have leaned more to yours.
I am a professional DJ that has always utilized the cutting edge in DJing technology. I've been waiting for something this portable & functionable since the iPhone/iTouch came out. The thought that I can walk up to any soundboard, pull a device out of my pocket (no pun intended) and just start mixing MY tunes is amazing.
Quixpins concept & function is almost perfect. It was a smart move to utilize MP2 (Mono) files. The files are smaller & since the left & right channels are split there is no reason for stereo MP3's. The players layout works very well when selecting & cue a song. The mixers layout functions very well also, even with my big fingers. The only thing I am requesting at this time is a cross fader in each player in addition to the one that is already available on the mixer screen, or a way to cross fade to the other player on cue within the current players screen. The reason I am asking this is the following; Lets say I have a song playing in Player A and the cross fader is transitioned all the way to this player, now while I am in Player B, cueing a song, I want to start fading or even slam the fader to the new song at a distintive moment. The current layout will not allow me to do this without shifting from the player screen to the mixer screen, thus creating a delay and preventing me from mixing at the postion in the song I wanted to mix.
Also, I noticed that when a song ends, its starts again (repeats) from the begining automatically. This is not needed and can actually create a problem if your mixing at the end of a song. Please remove this or if you want to kept this repeat function, please make it an option.
Overall your right on track with Quixpin and in my book you've got a winner here!
Hi!
I really like this software but I think some things can be changed or added to make it even better:)
-A bpm counter would be nice
-If it's possible an auto sync function
-The mono setting with the main channel and cue channel is nice when you are mixing with a sound installation or something but because I use this software while travelling it would be nice if there was a cue/mix option like on almost every mixer! If you don't know what I mean please mail me.
- Pitch control: sliding the fader down=faster, sliding the fader up=slower! Every cd player and turntable works this way so it's a bit confusing that it works the opposit way on this app.
-No auto repeat when the track is finished!
Keep up the good work!

I have been looking for an app to mix 2 tracks together for weeks now, and i love this new application. I am a good Producer and Dj and similar to what the "Geekzter" said... The thought that i can walk up to my or a mate's sound system and plug in me ipod touch 3.0 out of my pocket pretty much when ever i want to mix some tunes is amazing!! Ther are just 2 things i'd like you to add to the next release if possible.....
1, A small BPM counter (figure out tempo)
2, And i think ther should be settings when clicking on the Time to change from Elapse/Full track time to Remaining/Full track time.
The reason i ask for the BPM Counter to be added is because by the time iv beatmatched and switched over to the mixer page, ther aint much mixing time left. and the reason why im requesting for remaining time (aswell as elapsed time) to be added is because i dont exacly know how much time is left of each track.
If my 2 requests and the Geekzter's request could get added into the next release/update Quixpin will be 100x better, plus i will pay how ever much to purchase it. :)
Thanks Harrymsn,
Keep that feedback coming. We'll keep cramming the features in somehow. There's lots on our roadmap, but we'll be making incremental updates to the product as features mature.

I cant wait for the new release of quixpin. I can see this becomming a massive hit worldwide. Does the job.
I understand it takes time to update these programs but when about are you thinking bout releasing the new version?
Hi Harrymsn,
Yes, it does take time to update these types of programs. Sometimes, more than we'd like! So we take the strategy of figuring out what the most important updates are and looking to release them sooner rather than trying to get all the features in at the same time and not having anything out for 6 months. We also have an additional step of the Apple approval process.
So we are trying to achive a balance between getting our updates out as soon as possible but not so quickly that Apple starts putting us on the back burner or so often that our users get annoyed with constantly updating their app. Our gut feeling is that the minimum amount of time between updates is at least a month. While we have yet to submit our first update, we plan on doing one within the next few weeks.
Stay tuned!

Hi Geekzter,
Thank you so much for your well thought out review. You are on the exact same wavelength as we are. Quixpin represents a long dream come true for an ultra-portable DJ system. We had even developed a prototype many years ago for the Pocket PC Windows CE platform, but alas the limited capabilities (and available memory) at the time coupled with the variety of different configurations made it exceedingly difficult to accomplish. Enter the iPhone, the first truely multimedia capable phone and we were inspired once again.
The iPhone 3GS is the perfect device for this app, with its increased speed and battery life. In fact, there may be features that we are planning now that might only be able to run on the iPhone 3GS and rumored upcoming iPod Touch 3G.
We worked very hard to make sure that the buttons, sliders, and dials were at least, if not larger than Apple's guidelines. In fact, while some of the buttons may look small, their active region is actually larger.
Thanks for your suggestions. We've decided to approach reviews, suggestions, and comments with the following philosophy - as long as they are well thought out (like yours is) we are going to consider them. So, while hopefully we won't receive many bad reviews, we accept them all and will consider each of them. That said, in response to your suggestions:
Possibly the best part about the iPhone platform is that once you purchase an app, the upgrades are free (as far as we can tell anyway - we've never been charged for an upgrade). That helps the users as well as keeps us developers competitive. We know that at any moment, another app can achieve feature parity and our users may start using our app less. The best thing for our app is that people use it, because that means they enjoy it and they value it. So the best thing for our users is an app that they continue to enjoy and value. We've seen one too many apps that are cool in the beginning but never get updated. This hurts everyone in the iPhone environment - not just the users but also Apple and iPhone developers as it creates a bloated and difficult to navigate app store where nobody can find anything of value. We are committed to keeping Quixpin and other upcoming Quixonic products updated and relevant.
So, as you've written a very thoughtful comment we felt it only right to respond thoughtfully. We hope you and anybody else that chances upon it enjoys reading it as much as we enjoyed reading yours.
Thanks again,

Looking forward to the upcomming releases!
I have a couple of more suggestions regarding the cross fader issue I mentioned in my previous posting.
The first would be to place a player A & B, Go-to-Cue, button on the mixer screen. Once you set the Cue within the player this will enable one to start the cue while in the mixer screen where there is access to the cross fader. The current playing Cue button, shown on the mixer screen, could be grayed out showing which player is currently running. The second suggestion and possibly the hardest would be to ad a global cross fader which pops up from the bottom of the screen, like a task bar would.
Thats all for know! I keep tinkering ;)
Thanks Geekzter,
Really appreciate the suggestions. Keep them coming. We spent a lot of time trying to figure out how the interface should all lay out. Our initial plans revolved around a single screen, but as you can see, there is a lot of functionality to try to cram into a single screen. We also looked at ways to optimize the space by using touches and swipes, etc. But nothing beats a button for precision.
We'll keep looking at it as we add new features.
Thanks again,
