About Us
We at Quixonic are a passionate folk; passionate about music, technology, and most importantly accessibility! These days there's no mistaking how technology has affected the audio and music industries, and how those industries have driven technological innovation. We see the work of artists such as The Postal Service, Daft Punk, Timbaland, Grand Master Flash, Run DMC, Gnarles Barkley, and companies such as Celemony, Studio Devil, Steinberg, Technics, as both inspired and inspiring. They have defined new methods of expression, new genres, and even new possibilities. But we often wonder how we can take this a step further.
Just as the printing press, radio, television, and the internet brought about a new levels of accessibility for information and entertainment, the same trend is occuring for the creation of music. As time progresses, the technology available to produce has become better, faster, cheaper, and more portable than ever. What used to require a massive studio now fits within a laptop. Quixonic is taking this to the next level. Not only do we want applications that are more portable, but we want them to be less expensive as well. Why should anyone have to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on equipment just to express themselves? Quixonic builds products that are accessable for even the leanest of budgets. Inspirations come at inconvenient times - Quixonic builds convenient outlets for your inspiration on mobile devices.
If you've read all this, we hope you found it entertaining if not motivating. Quixonic was founded by George McMullen with this above mission. George is a veteran product technologist with experience that covers audio, video, multimedia, standard media, engineering, and product management. A long time digital music lover, his first compositions were on a Commodore 64 using tools such as JCH Editor and then later on the Amiga and PC using MOD Editors. George still DJs on his free time with his ancient Technics 1200s and collection of vinyl that fills an entire room. While those will always have a place in his heart, new tools such as Quixonic's Quixpin are becoming his predominant form of digital music expression. We hope that they will become yours too!
